Collapse ▲The Seafood Laboratory facilities, located in Morehead City, NC in the CMAST building, include a food processing pilot plant, product development test kitchen, and analytical laboratory. The facilities are available for research and testing on a fee-for-service basis. Below is a listing of some equipment housed in the facilities.
LABORATORY EQUIPMENT
Microcentrifuge, large benchtop centrifuge, incubator/refrigerator, stomacher laboratory blender, water activity meter, colorimeter, water bath, texture analyzer, N/protein analyzer, ultrasonic cleaner, thermal cycler, E-gel electrophoresis system, spectrophotometer, forced air oven, muffle furnace, biosafety cabinet, vacuum pump, and homogenizer.
PILOT PLANT EQUIPMENT
Vacuum packaging machine, spray dryer, electric kettle, decanter centrifuge, clarifier/purifier centrifuge, ORP meter, dry grinder mill, meat grinder, water bath shaker, variable speed mixer, large desiccator, peristaltic pumps, dehydrator, freeze dryer, chlorine colorimeter, conductivity/total dissolved solids meter, water ionizer, and pellet mill.
